We’re ending Robin Hood Month with the Taron Egerton, Jamie Foxx, Ben Mendelsohn action adventure with Tim Minchin, which Johnny is most excited about, but will the Bono’s Daughter-starring film win the hearts of the podcasters, or is it more rich-robbing than poor-giving?
259 - ROBIN HOOD: PRINCE OF THIEVES
You know it’s true, everything we do, we do it for Alan Rickman impressions. It’s time for the Kevin Costner-but-really-Alan-Rickman Robin Hood adventure, where scenery is chewed, the f-word is used and explosions occur. What will Johnny make of a 2+ hour film with no archery contest? Will anything be able to bring him into the fun of the legend of Robin Hood or is this month a lost cause?
252 - DAY WATCH
Johnny is forced back into the fantasy lore of Russian trilogy-turned-two-film-franchise Nochnoy Dozor, and he’s being at his best behaviour, but will he last the 2 hour follow-up? Andrew discusses the death of cinema, at least as he waves goodbye to a Cineworld Unlimited card, and the Comic Con hunt for a DVD of Day Watch in 2006.
251 - NIGHT WATCH
Andrew takes the reigns of the nostalgia-buster-fantasy-action programming this week, with Timur Bekmambetov’s weird Russian piece of cinema. Will it hold up? Probably not. Will Disney+ offer kinetic subtitles? Of course not. What will be left of hope when the film comes to an unthrilling climax?
BONUS - MORTAL KOMBAT 2021 KOMMENTARY
It’s Andrew’s birthday and naturally it’s time to test your might with a bunch of fun games, trivia and Josh Lawson talk as he and Johnny sit through the latest video game adaptation.
Commentary begins 5 seconds into the film and at the timecode 00:13:40
235 - NATIONAL LAMPOON'S LOADED WEAPON 1
Hey, we have never covered a film under the National Lampoon branding, so what a good time to look back at a Emilio Estevez/Samuel L. Jackson send-up from the early 90s, and also spend way too long looking at the imdb page for one Joe Estevez.
230 - BLOODSHOT
VIN DIESEL, BABY!
Andrew has watched this a bunch of times in lockdown because it’s the most recent Vin flick, Johnny never saw it. Will Guy Pearce’s ever-changing accents add to the experience, or the action scene definitely meant to be in London that looks nothing like anything ever? Will cinema ever matter again? What is pandemic brain cinema anyway?
194 - ARTEMIS FOWL
It’s hard to find something new in this weird dead world, but Disney+ bring a film intended for August 2019 straight to streaming a year later, and Andrew and Johnny see it as reason enough to give it a go. Stay for Johnny’s Irish roots which makes Andrew’s Irish accent even MORE offensive, in these trying times.
175 - RAMBO: LAST BLOOD
After covering every Rambo movie years ago, it was destined that Stallone would return once more to the podcast, and after poisoning Andrew he takes co-hosting duties to share with Johnny the insanity of his latest angry-old-man-murders-an-ethnic-group movie.
174 - NATIONAL SECURITY
Rounding off Bad Boys month with a Martin Lawrence action comedy vehicle, Andrew pines for the days of economy in storytelling, and Johnny remembers the glories of iSpy, a film nobody had talked about since the day it premiered.
172 - BAD BOYS II
Coming in to the 21st century and a vulgar auterist creation lambasted and weirdly lauded, Johnny finds himself questioning the franchise as a whole, and specifically the purpose of action cinema in an incomprehensible manner. Andrew, meanwhile, attempts to deconstruct, to find meaning, in the bayhem unleashed.
157 - GET SMART
Alan Arkin for some reason joins the gang as they watch the Steve Carell-led action comedy farce, and discuss the ever-evolving career of Dwayne Johnson.
155 - MACGRUBER
This week a Saturday Night Live sketch becomes a full motion picture, will Johnny fall for the mulleted one’s charms? Become obsessed with KFBR392? Will Stallone promote Rambo: Last Blood?
138 - DEJA VU
It feels like we’ve watched Tony Scott films a few times of late, but Johnny can’t get beyond the basic joke of Deja Vu, until the film blows his fragile mind.

137 - DOMINO
Heads you live, Tails you watch Keira Knightley as a bounty hunter in a film that really just kinda plays out in front of your eyes. Tony Scott, man.
102 - KUNG POW: ENTER THE FIST
The Chosen Ones settle down for kung-foolishness, and work out which film would be the most offensive to re-edit and dub over.
Spoiler: it is Schindler’s List.
084 - MORTAL KOMBAT
Test your might. The studio becomes infected with a severe case of Lambert’s Disease, Andrew stays away with an immune deficiency whilst Johnny learns all about Outworld and the various realms from The One And Only Christopher Lambert
066 - ROAD HOUSE
Johnny has no clue what Patrick Swayze has in store for him, let alone who Ben Gazzara is, and Andrew is being nice about it all.
